Trappe EMS/Fire attend Make-A-Wish Convoy
Every year on Mother's Day, the Philadelphia and Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation sponsors a fund raising convoy. The 23rd annual event took place this past Sunday, May 13th. This is the third year in a row that Trappe EMS has participated in this fund raising event. EMT Tom Sheehan and Paramedic Paul Giannini were joined this year by EMT and Board of Director's Secretary Kristen Norwood.
The first 30 spots in the convoy each year are reserved for the top 30 donors from the previous year. Last year members of Trappe Fire Company, Trappe EMS and Limerick Fire Company as well as a few other local volunteers shaved their heads and, with the assistance of the Bic Corporation raised $5740 for Make-A Wish. That allowed Trappe Fire/EMS to be the 13th vehicle in the convoy this year.
In total 336 trucks hosted 70 Make A Wish passengers for the 25+ mile trip through Lancaster County. Thousands of bystanders lined the convoy route to show their support for the event our passengers. Rebecca and Andrew, the make A Wish passengers riding in Medic 1 and Tac 77 clearly had a great time waving to everyone and listening to the deafening cacophony of horns and sirens. We are already planning our role in the convoy next year.
